The Program:

Empowering Clients to Leave a Legacy: The Business Case for Philanthropy​

This program will examine the important role of philanthropy in comprehensive wealth and financial planning, with a focus on both client outcomes and advisor benefits. The session will address how philanthropy can strengthen client relationships and build long-term trust. The presenters will illustrate effective charitable giving vehicles and demonstrate how philanthropic strategies can be integrated into broader wealth management plans. Participants will gain practical knowledge to deliver greater value to clients, enhance retention, and support business development through legacy planning.

Kelly Dunkin joined Colorado Gives Foundation as President and CEO in February 2019. As a veteran nonprofit leader, she and her team work to connect people, ideas and nonprofits to make good happen. 

Previously she worked for a variety of nonprofits, businesses and social impact organizations, including 11 years with The Colorado Health Foundation in Denver, where she grew into the role of Vice President of Philanthropy, and 10.10.10, a project of Colorado Nonprofit Development Center that inspires entrepreneurs to solve 10 “wicked” social problems. Kelly also served as a consultant for businesses, nonprofits and social impact startups on projects in Lima, Peru, where she developed her Spanish-language skills.

Throughout her career, Kelly has earned many accolades, most recently being named one of the Denver Business Journal’s Most Admired CEOs.

Kelly’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts in English from Miami University, an Elementary Education Licensure from the University of Northern Colorado, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver.

When she’s not working, Kelly enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, practicing Spanish, reading and getting outdoors mountain biking, skiing or trail running.

 

 

With more than 20 years of success in the nonprofit sector, Jeremy Stern is a proven leader in philanthropy, donor engagement, and strategic fundraising. As Major Gifts Officer at Colorado Gives Foundation, he leads donor relationships in achieving positive outcomes, manages a Donor Advised Fund program, and supports professional advisors with their client’s philanthropic goals.
 

Jeremy’s career has been defined by his ability to craft customized donor strategies that drive mission impact. He has held leadership roles at prominent organizations including The Kempe Foundation, Mile High Behavioral Healthcare, Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, Community Reach Center, and the Florida Marlins Community Foundation. 

His expertise spans major gifts, estate planning, fundraising, board and committee development, corporate partnerships, event production, marketing, and volunteer engagement. Known for his collaborative approach and passion for impact, he integrates mission into every aspect of his work.

Jeremy holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan School of Kinesiology and a master’s degree in Sport Management from the University of Miami. He enjoys exploring Colorado—golfing, snowboarding, live music, and traveling with his family. He stays active by riding his Peloton and walking his energetic soft coated wheaten terrier at least twice a day.

 


The meeting begins with networking and breakfast at 7:30 a.m.  

Members are invited to bring guests. Guests may attend their first meeting free of charge and for a $35 fee for subsequent meetings. Printed copies of the presentation will not be available at the meeting. If available, a copy of the presentation will be posted on the website.
