DESCRIPTION:\n \n \nThe Program:\n \n“Premarital Agreements and Marital Agreements: Every Marriage Will End...Are Your Clients Ready?”\n \nNot just for the “rich and famous” anymore, premarital agreements, marital agreements, and cohabitation agreements have become recognized as an important tool in an attorney’s toolbox. All marriages end – either as the result of a divorce/legal separation, or as the result of a party’s death. These agreements allow people to opt out of the state’s default rules and to create rules governing the disposition of property that reflect that particular couple’s values and life-circumstances. These materials will examine the keys to enforceability of these agreements under current Colorado law; the pros and cons of these agreements, particularly as they relate to a family’s wealth preservation and succession planning objectives in the face of a family member’s divorce; and trends in Colorado divorce cases that will increase the importance of these agreements.\n \n \n \nPresented By:\n \nRebecca Alexander is the founder of the Law Offices of Rebecca C. Alexander, LLC, where her practice is focused on marital agreements and assisting families with discussions regarding multi-generational wealth stewardship. Prior to forming her own firm in 2023, Ms. Alexander practiced family law for ultra-high net worth families at Baker & Hostetler LLP and Sherman & Howard LLC. Although no longer handling divorces, she continues to serve as a consultant and expert witness for divorce lawyers on trust issues and premarital agreements. \n \nMs. Alexander has written and lectured extensively on topics including marital agreements, trusts in divorce, legal separation, and civility in the practice of law. Rebecca is a 1993 graduate, Cum Laude and Order of the Coif, from Northwestern University School of Law. She has won numerous awards over the course of her career including Best Lawyer and Super Lawyer, 5280 Magazine Top Lawyer, the Outstanding Women in Business Award, the Colorado Women’s Bar Association Marty Lathrop Award, and a Chambers Women in Law Award.  She is a former member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and she is co-founder and a volunteer at the Florence Crittenton Legal Clinic, which provides free legal services to families at a high school for pregnant and parenting teens. \n ------\n\n \nThe meeting begins with networking and breakfast at 7:30 a.m.  \n \nMembers are invited to bring guests. We do not charge for guests at this time. Printed copies of the presentation will not be available at the meeting. A copy of the presentation will be available on the website prior to the meeting.\n \nYou are invited to email our office manager, Stephanie Hill, at denverepc@gmail.com with any questions. \n ------\n\n \nThis presentation qualifies for CPE credit in Colorado.\n \nLearning objectives: This program is intended to inform participants on Estate Planning Issues.\n Instructional delivery method: Live instructor\n CPE credits: 1 (one) hour\n Field of study: Estate Planning\n Prerequisites: None\n Program Level: Basic\n Advance Preparation: None\n Program Description:\n Course Registration Requirements: Click Register Now on this page or email Stephanie Hill at stephanie@nonprofitadmin.com\n Refund Policy: N/A, cost included in annual membership dues\n Complaint Resolution Policy: Complaints regarding CPE programming can be submitted to DEPC, P.O.
